Comcast has announced the launch of its enhanced 4K viewing experience on Xfinity X1, set to premiere for the Paris Olympic Games. This first-of-its-kind offering combines industry-leading video, audio, and network technology to deliver an unmatched high-definition viewing experience. Available on USA Network’s 24/7 coverage, this feature promises to bring the excitement of the Olympics to life with 4K video, Dolby Vision® for life-like picture quality, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, and ultra-low latency that brings viewers close to live action unfolding in Paris.

Comcast’s enhanced 4K offering on Xfinity X1 is designed to give viewers the best seat in the house for the Olympic Games. With crystal clear pictures, vivid colors, and immersive audio, fans can experience the games as if they were there. Vito Forlenza, Vice President of Sports Entertainment at Comcast, stated in the press release, “The Olympics is the best example of how Comcast can bring together its fantastic sports content, entertainment platforms, and innovative technology to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences to customers.”

A New Standard for Live Sports

Following a successful trial during the 2024 Super Bowl, enhanced 4K will set a new quality standard for live sports delivered on X1. This technology ensures significantly less delay compared to other market options, providing a seamless and immersive viewing experience.

Comprehensive Olympics Coverage on X1

Xfinity X1 customers can easily access the enhanced 4K feed through X1’s Olympics destination. This hub offers curated and personalized access to every minute of coverage across NBCUniversal’s networks, including NBC, USA Network, E!, CNBC, GOLF Channel, Telemundo, Universo, two new Paris Extra channels, and streaming on Peacock. Features include:

  • Personalized Experience Across Devices: Customers can choose their favorite sports to create a custom destination for live coverage, event replays, and a personalized playlist of highlights, which carries over to the Xfinity Stream app.
  • Interactive Schedule of Events: An interactive daily schedule allows customers to view and filter live and upcoming events, set reminders, and schedule DVR recordings.
  • Catch-Up Highlights: Quickly jump to top moments in recorded coverage using Catch-Up Highlights, powered by Emmy-award-winning AI technology.
  • 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos on Xfinity Stream: For the first time, Xfinity X1 customers can enjoy 4K picture quality and Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive sound on the go via the Xfinity Stream app.
  • Team Comcast Profiles: Get to know Team Comcast Olympians and Paralympians through an interactive experience featuring stats, bios, highlights, and exclusive interviews.
  • Venue Tours: Experience iconic Paris landmarks hosting Olympic events, such as the Eiffel Tower and Roland-Garros, through immersive venue tours.
  • Xfinity Sports Zone App: Access updates on events in progress and follow live odds for select Olympic sports through the Xfinity Odds Zone, integrated with the DraftKings Sportsbook mobile app.

Robust Streaming Options

On Xfinity Flex and Xumo devices, Comcast’s Internet customers will also have a robust destination that brings together all of Peacock’s programming. This includes quick access to Peacock’s new Multiview feature, whip-around coverage on Gold Zone, highlights and replays, other shows and documentaries, and more. Additionally, Xumo devices will pull in other Olympic-related programming from streaming services such as YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV+, MAX, Prime Video, and more. While this offering on Xumo won’t be quite as feature-rich as X1—lacking elements like Team Comcast pages, venue tours, and Odds Zone—it still ensures customers can easily find and navigate Olympic programming.

Exclusive Offer for New and Existing Customers

New and existing Xfinity Internet customers can sign up for Xfinity StreamSaver to enjoy the full excitement of the Olympics, along with access to Peacock Premium, Netflix, and Apple TV+ for $15/month.

With these new features and viewing destinations, Xfinity aims to give viewers the best seat in the house for the Olympic Games, offering a viewing experience that is second to none.
