“CenturyLink continually evaluates the products and services we offer and makes changes when and where needed,” a CenturyLink spokesperson said in a statement to MultiChannel News. “The CenturyLink Stream Beta will be discontinued in April 2018 and we will pursue new partnerships to meet emerging market trends in the video space.”
This should be no surprise before CenturyLink Stream went live it was confirmed that CenturyLink and DIRECTV NOW had talked about a partnership to sell DIRECTV NOW to CenturyLink internet customers. Now it looks like these talks are likely back on and probably fairly far along for CenturyLink to shut down their current live TV Streaming Service.
CenturyLink announced that they are going to shut down their live TV service with the following announcement on their site:
CenturyLink Stream service is ending. We are no longer accepting new subscribers.
If you are a current subscriber, you can continue to sign in to your account to watch your channels until your current subscription period ends. Plus, enjoy movie rentals on us.Learn More.

In a very crowded live TV streaming market it should be no surprise that a service will decide to close its doors. As there are currently over 10 live TV streaming services in the United States it is understandable that one or two will not make the cut.
