Celebrate Star Trek Day With Free Classic ‘Star Trek’ Titles on Comet and STIRR

The official Star Trek Day is September 8, and Comet and STIRR have you covered with classic reruns of the sci-fi favorite all day long. You can commemorate the September 8, 1966 debut of the first Star Trek episode airing in the US by streaming these installments for free.

Star Trek Day on COMET

COMET, Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s multicast channel network specializing in science fiction programming, will be airing Star Trek movies on rotation all month long. 

  • Star Trek: Generations
  • Star Trek: First Contact
  • Star Trek: Nemesis

On Star Trek Day, 9/8, Comet is airing two Star Trek movies (Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact) 

Comet can be watched over the air, on cable, on YouTube TV, and on Dish Network. Comet is also available via on Sinclair’s streaming service STIRR and on Comet’s app which is available on Roku and Samsung Smart TVs and can be watched at comettv.com 

Star Trek Day on STIRR

STIRR, Sinclair’s free, ad-supported OTT streaming service, will feature Comet TV’s special line up of Star Trek movies, three documentaries examining Star Trek’s lasting global impact on society will stream on the STIRR Movies channel and the STIRR City channel will stream the TV five-part mini-series The Captain’s Close Up with William Shatner.

The schedule is as follows: 

On the STIRR Movies channel 

  • 6 pm Chaos On The Bridge – written and Directed by William Shatner
  • 7:30 pm The Truth is the Stars – starring William Shatner, interviews with Neil Degrasse Tyson, Stephen Hawking, Seth Macfarlane, and Whoopi Goldberg 
  • 9:30 pm What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 

On the  STIRR City Channel

  • 8 pm he Captain’s Close Up – William Shatner
  • 9 pm The Captain’s Close Up – Patrick Stewart
  • 10 pm The Captains Close Up – Kate Mulgrew
  • 11:35 pm The Captains Close Up – Scott Bakula
  • 12:35 pm The Captains Close Up – Avery Brooks
