Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS Sports and Paramount+, has scored big after agreeing to extend its collaboration with the Pac-12 as the flagship media partner for the reinvented version of the conference. The new deal runs through the 2030-31 season and kicks off ahead of the 2025 football campaign, carrying into the full launch of the new Pac-12 in 2026-27.
The deal makes CBS Sports the long-term home and primary network for the conference. The Conference of Champions games will air on CBS Television Network, and CBS Sports Network, with live streams available on Paramount+. Another media partner will be announced at a later date. It was reported back in April, CBS Sports and The CW were frontrunners to acquire rights to the new version of the Pac-12.
As part of the agreement, each season, CBS Sports will air and Paramount+ will stream: the Pac-12 football championship game, Pac-12 basketball tournament championship game, a minimum of three regular-season football games, as well as a minimum of three regular-season basketball games on the CBS broadcast network, and additional games on the CBS Sports Network.
“As the new Pac-12’s primary media partner, CBS Sports’ top-tier coverage will showcase the best of the conference’s football and men’s basketball games annually across our platforms, including the championship game for both sports,” said Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports. “Extending this partnership strengthens our multiplatform college football and basketball schedule and, at a pivotal moment for the new Pac-12, allows us to collaborate, grow the conference and expand its reach.”
Currently, Oregon State and Washington State, the lone two members of the old version of the Pac-12, are the only members of the conference heading into the upcoming college football season.
For the 2025 season, their football games will air on ESPN, the CW, and CBS. However, beginning on July 1, 2026, the Boise State Broncos, Colorado State Rams, San Diego State Aztecs, and Fresno State Bulldogs will officially call the Pac-12 home in all sports. Additionally, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are joining as a non-football playing member. One more football-playing member will have to join the conference by the beginning of the 2026-27 season to keep its FBS status.
“Our goal with this process was to find transformational partnerships for the new Pac-12, and throughout our discussions and time together it became more and more clear that a partnership with CBS Sports would be just that,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould. “I am thankful to the team at CBS Sports for seeing our vision and investing in our shared future as we build, launch and realize a new Pac-12 together.”
All current and future members of the Pac-12 collaborated on the extended agreement with CBS.
