Britbox, a streaming service specializing in British content, is joining the myriad of other services jacking up their rates.
The service, which features BBC content like Pride and Prejudice, Luther and Doctor Who, will now cost $8.99 a month or $89.99 a year in the US. It previously cost $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
The hike comes as many services wrestle with the higher cost of content, which may not be supported by their subscriber base. Even larger players like Disney Plus have struggled to turn a profit off of their own services.
The new price is listed on its own site.
A spokesman wasn’t immediately available to answer additional questions about the price hike.
