BritBox Launches “BritMas” With Over 100 UK Holiday Specials

Looking for some holiday cheer from across the pound? BritBox recently announced that they will be offering over 100 holiday-themed specials perfect to get you into the holiday spirit. Starting December 1st 2017 you will find some of the best holiday specials being added to your Britbox subscription.

Here are some of the specials you will find on BrtiBox:

  • December 1st: The Dickens Dossier ­­– Celebrate the work of literary legend Charles Dickens whose writings are synonymous with the holiday season.
    • Dickensian – (SVOD Exclusive Premiere) – Drama set within the fictional realms of Charles Dickens critically acclaimed novels, bringing together some of his most iconic characters as their lives intertwine in 19th century London. Stephen Rea headlines the ensemble.
    • A Christmas Carol – (BritBox Premiere) – It’s Christmas Eve and the world rejoices – except for Ebenezer Scrooge who regards Christmas as an unwelcome interruption to the serious business of making money.
    • Great Expectations – (BritBox Premiere) – A humble orphan, Pip, suddenly becomes a gentleman with the help of an unknown benefactor.  Ioan Gruffudd and Charlotte Rampling lead the cast.

  • December 16th: To the Manor Born: “The First Noel” + “Christmas Special 2007” (US Streaming Premiere) –Voted one of Britain’s best sitcoms, these special episodes set in the English countryside are sure to bring out your festive spirit.

  • December 16th`:  Christmas Lights (US streaming Premiere) – Robson Green (Grantchester) and Mark Benton star in this heart-warming comedy dram about love, friendship and the true meaning of the festive season.

 

  • December 24th & 25th:  A MERRY BRITMAS CELEBRATION

 

    • Carols from Kings (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”) – A celebration of Christmas from The Chapel of King’s College Cambridge. The story of the Nativity is told in the familiar words of the King James Bible. December 24th

 

    • The Queen’s Christmas Message 2017 (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”) – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II delivers her annual address to the people of the commonwealth. December 25th

 

    • UK Soap Specials– Eastenders & Coronation Street (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”) – An annual tradition in the UK now comes Stateside as the highly anticipated Christmas Day episodes of Eastenders & Coronation Street will be accessible to US audiences for the first time. UK audiences always face a dilemma about which one they want to watch live – now Americans will face the same choice as well as the option to work both in succession.  Emmerdale fans will also get their seasonal fix with the airing of its Christmas Special (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”)

 

  • December 31st :  “Who Year’s Eve” – At this time of new starts & regenerations for Doctor Who, we are celebrating with all 6 of the classic doctor’s regenerations.

 

‘NOW’ BRITMAS EXCLUSIVES- Dates To Be Announced:  

 

  • Upstart Crow  – ‘A Christmas Crow’ (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now,” Season 2 including holiday special) – In addition to the new season is a the Christmas special in which Will (Shakespeare) is commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I (Emma Thomson) to present his new play Twelfth Night- although his working draft is only Eighth Night. NOTE: While the special is TBD, the second series will premiere on the 12/25.

 

  • QI Holiday Special ‘Oh come all yeah faithful, Oh Christmas’  (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”) – The Christmas special of the part razor sharp comedy, part trivia quiz show, Hosted Sandi Toksvig (Great British Baking Show) joined each week by beloved UK comedian Alan Davies and  3 guest comedians.

 

  • Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special (US Exclusive Premiere/”Now”)– 6 new British celebrities battle it out for the Christmas Glitterball trophy.

 

  • Still Open All Hours Christmas Special (US Exclusive Premiere) – David Jason returns as the beloved, Granville for an all-new season of this warm-hearted corner shop comedy.
