BritBox International welcomes some new faces to the senior leadership team. The company appointed Nimesh Kataria and Alana McGaughey to head the new global editorial team.
Nimesh Kataria is the new chief financial officer, effective April 2024. Kataria joins BritBox from Warner Bros. Discovery, where he was the general vice president of finance and international sport. Before WBD, he worked at Discovery Networks in international content and the FD of the U.K. and Ireland business. He will support Chief Executive Officer Reemah Sakaan and the BritBox leadership team to expand its reach in the eight territories where it operates.
Alana McGaughey joins BritBox as the vice president of global public relations and communications at the New York office. She joins BritBox from Netflix, where she launched publicity campaigns for several hit series, including the final season of Ozark and Shawn Levy’s All the Light We Cannot See, based on Anthony Doerr’s New York Times bestseller. Before Netflix, McGaughey was at Starz Entertainment for nearly a decade, working on publicity for Outlander and mega-hit titles in the Power universe.
BritBox operates in America, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
The new leadership is part of BritBox’s next stage of growth, the company told Cord Cutters News. BritBox plans to evolve its internal leadership structure by creating a new global editorial team based in London, New York, and Sydney to help drive the platform’s acquisitions and commissions strategy.
“Bringing executives of the caliber of Nimesh and Alana onto the fantastic BritBox leadership team is testimony to the exciting mission and results we’re achieving,” said Reemah Sakaan, chief executive officer of BritBox International. “They bring a wealth of global streaming and content experience to us and join a business that has a unique clarity and model in today’s landscape.”
Recent hires Robert Schildhouse and Kerry Ball will see their roles grow as the new team is established. Schildhouse joined the company in October of 2022 and is the general manager for North America, BritBox’s largest market, and his new roles include editorial and programming strategy. He joined BritBox from Hulu and CBS.
Kerry Ball will become the new chief commercial and strategy officer. She will focus on strategy and research as well as commercial and business development. Her previous duties with acquisitions will be passed to Schildhouse and the editorial team.
