Today, Bally Sports’ Parent company, Diamond Sports Group, announced it has reached a deal with Spectrum’s parent company, Charter Communications. This deal will keep Bally Sports on Spectrum TV packages and help it keep its NBA TV rights.

Recently it was reported that if Bally Sports failed to get a renewal deal with Spectrum early next year, the NBA could terminate its contract with the RSN, according to a report from the Sports Business Journal. Now that a deal has been reach the NBA will have to for now stay with Bally Sports.

With the current deal Bally Sports keeps its TV contracts with the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs., Miami Heat, and Milwaukee Bucks.

“Under the new agreement, customers will continue to have access to live, local MLB, NBA and NHL games and pre- and post-game content on Diamond’s RSN channels through Charter’s Spectrum TV Select Plus package. Additionally, Spectrum TV Select Plus customers will be able to stream Diamond’s RSN content by authenticating with their subscription credentials on the Bally Sports app. Customers who do not have access to Diamond’s RSN channels as part of their service will be able to purchase Diamond’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) product, including from Spectrum, to access all local DTC content for the teams for which Diamond retains DTC rights.” Bally Sports said in a statement earlier today.

The current NBA contract with Bally Sports allows each team to offer up to ten games free on local broadcast TV stations.. The hope is this move will help offset the 16% cut each team took in payments from Bally Sports.

For Bally Sports this new contract with Spectrum is a huge win allowing them to keep NBA rights as they push to continue the RSNs past the current NBA season.
