AT&T TV NOW Will Drop Audience Network Next Month, Introduce HBO Max Preview

Over the weekend, AT&T TV NOW subscribers received an email, letting them know that the Audience Network would be removed from the channel lineup.

The email says:

Hi Valued Customer,

Effective May 22, 2020, AT&T AUDIENCE Network will sunset its linear and streaming broadcasts. We regret any inconvenience.

Thank you for choosing AT&T TV NOW.

The plan to remove the channel was announced in January. “We will begin to transition Audience Network from its current approach to support AT&T’s broader original content and marketing focus on the upcoming HBO Max service,” said Daniel York, chief content officer, AT&T Consumer in a statement in January.

Audience launched in 1999 as a channel focused on music and concerts. It was rebranded as The 101 Network in 2005, then became Audience Network in 2010 when original content was introduced.

AT&T will be turning that channel into an HBO Max preview channel, to promote the new streaming service. Content previously found on the Audience Network will reportedly be moved to HBO Max.

HBO Max is set to launch next month.
