Before today you could get DIRECTV for $49.99 (plus fees and taxes) for a 12-month introductory offer. Now AT&T has announced that starting today DIRECTV’s basic Select package will be going up to $59.99 a month as an introductory offer good for 12 months. This is the second DIRECTV price hike in less than a year.

Update: AT&T says that current subscribers will not be affected by this change. Only new customers will be paying more starting today.

This new package comes with 155+ channels and HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax free for 3 months. (Note: if you don’t cancel you will be billed for the services after the 3-month offer.) Now the high-end premier package starts a $134.99 a month for 12 months as part of the introductory offer.

After the 12-month introductory offer ends DIRECTV will now cost $93 a month for Select and $189 a month for DIRECTV Premier.

Again to be clear this price hike is on new customers starting today. Current subscribers will not see their price change.
