AT&T has started to notify some customers that their DSL internet bill will be going up $10 a month starting July 16th, 2023. The good news is you can now save $5 a month off of your home internet if you autopay, but there is a catch. This comes from Cord Cutters News readers, who sent us a copy of the notice on their bills.

Now AT&T is requiring customers with auto pay to use a debit card or bank account to get the $5 a month discount. You must also be using paperless billing.

AT&T is joining a growing number of companies that are limiting auto-pay discounts to debit cards or bank accounts as payment methods. This comes as companies are trying to break free from the high cost of credit card fees.

T-Mobile has also started to notify customers that if they want to keep their auto-pay discount, they need to also switch to a debit card or bank account.

If you are an AT&T Internet customer, keep an eye on your bill as your date for the price change may vary depending on where you live. Also, the amount of money that AT&T Internet will go up can vary by area.

Here is how to signup for AT&T auto pay:

DETAILED STEPS

You can use your bank account, debit card, or credit card to sign up for AutoPay.

  1. Go to AutoPay. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Select the account you want to sign up for AutoPay, if you have multiple accounts.
  3. Toggle AutoPay On.
  4. Follow the prompts to finish signing up.
  5. Repeat these steps for each account you want to pay automatically.

Have a balance due? Check the Pay my account balance box while you’re signing up. That way you don’t have to worry about paying it later.

It can take up to two bill periods for AutoPay to start. Pay as usual until you see AutoPay is scheduled for (date) in one of these places:

  • Paper bill: Look in the upper-right corner of the first page.
  • Online: Go to myAT&T Account overview and check in the Total balance section.

Manage payment methods and AutoPay from your mobile device with the myAT&T app. Text and data rates may apply for download and use.
