As Cord Cutting Grows Comcast, AT&T, & Verizon Lost Over 900,000 Subscribers in Just 3 Months

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating people cancelling cable TV serviceFor all the talk of cord cutting slowing down, there seems to be no sign of it. So far, with just Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T reporting their first quarter 2019 numbers, over 900,000 people canceled their pay-TV service.

If this trend continues through 2019 and does not speed up, Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon will lose over 3.6 million subscribers in 2019.

Now we need to wait and get numbers from Comcast, Spectrum, Dish, and other pay-TV providers, but from the early numbers, it looks like the first quarter of 2019 will set a new record for cord cutting growth.

The question now is what will happen for the rest of 2019. Some have predicted that cord cutting is slowing down and fewer people will cut the cord in 2019 than in 2018; however, these early numbers make it look like more people will cut the cord in 2019.
