Yesterday we learned that Apple was upping their spending on Apple TV+ from $1 billion for new content to $6 billion for new content. Now Bloomberg is reporting that Apple plans to launch the new Netflix like streaming in November of 2019. Bloomberg is also reporting that Apple is considering charging $9.99 a month. (After a free trial.)
This will put Apple head to head with the new Disney+ service that is also launching in November. It will be interesting to see how Apple plans to standout against Disney+.
Apple has said they plan to focus more on slowly rolling out high-quality content to Apple TV+, rather than pushing a huge amount of content immediately. This quality over quantity approach has many saying that Apple TV+ is directly going against the Netflix strategy of constantly releasing new content to draw in a wide range of viewers.
For now, we will have to wait and see what Apple announces next for conformation of the launch date and pricing.
