In March, Bloomberg reported that Apple is planning a software redesign for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. While Apple keeps most details under wraps until major announcements are made, Bloomberg did share that the update will create consistency across Apple devices and will be inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro’s visionOS.

Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that the update will extend to Apple TVs and Apple Watches as well. Announcements about the redesign will be made at Apple’s WWDC 2025 event.

“The main topic at WWDC will be the company’s new software interface. Dubbed “Solarium” – after glass rooms that allow in sunlight – the new look is slicker and more modern. The approach takes many of its cues from visionOS,” Gurman reports. “One of the major themes this year is consistency and unification across the operating systems.”

The “Solarium” codename and reports that Apple is using its visionOS as inspiration indicate that we’re likely to see translucent, glass-like buttons and graphics with tvOS 19.

There are also rumors that Apple could be gearing up for the launch of a new Apple TV streaming device, using a proprietary ‘Proxima’ chip for WiFi and Bluetooth. However, other reports say that the current 2022 version of the device is powerful enough that an upgrade might not be necessary right now.

Apple’s WWDC presentation is scheduled for Monday, June 9.
