Apple announced today that it has updated the Apple TV app on Android devices to include native support for Google Cast. This new feature enables millions of Android users to effortlessly stream content from their phones or tablets directly to compatible televisions or Chromecast devices. The integration marks a further step in making Apple TV content available across diverse platforms, enhancing the viewing experience for subscribers worldwide.

The update allows seamless casting of popular Apple Original series and films. Viewers can now enjoy acclaimed shows such as the critically praised sci-fi drama Pluribus, a global hit from Vince Gilligan that has shattered viewership records on the platform. Other standout series include the workplace thriller Severance, the satirical Hollywood comedy The Studio, the gripping morning news drama The Morning Show, and the espionage favorite Slow Horses. On the film side, the summer blockbuster F1 The Movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt, brings high-octane racing action to the big screen at home. Family-oriented options like The Family Plan 2, the action-comedy sequel featuring Mark Wahlberg, provide lighter entertainment suitable for all ages.

Sports enthusiasts also benefit from the casting capability. Apple TV offers extensive live coverage, including Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders from Major League Baseball, every match from Major League Soccer, and select Formula 1 races available in the U.S. The process is straightforward: users simply play content on their Android device, tap the Cast icon, and select their TV or casting device to begin streaming instantly.

The Apple TV app, which launched on Android mobile devices earlier this year and is available for download via Google Play, supports a range of devices running modern Android versions. Key functionalities include Continue Watching, which syncs progress across devices for uninterrupted viewing, and a Watchlist feature to organize upcoming content. Streaming works smoothly over Wi-Fi or cellular networks, with options to download titles for offline playback, making it ideal for travel or areas with limited connectivity.

Since its debut in 2019, Apple TV+, now called just Apple TV, has built a library of exclusive originals spanning thrilling dramas, epic science fiction, uplifting comedies, insightful documentaries, and programming for children and families. The service continues to release new content weekly, amassing hundreds of Apple Originals and thousands of hours of premium entertainment. This vast catalog is now more accessible than ever, viewable on a wide array of screens beyond traditional Apple ecosystems.

The addition of Google Cast allows Android users to fully engage with Apple TV’s award-winning lineup. With ongoing expansions in content and device compatibility, the service positions itself as a versatile option for diverse viewers seeking premium, ad-free entertainment.
