For some time now, we have known that Apple was hard at work building a Netflix-like streaming service. Now according to Bloomberg Apple plans to announce their new streaming services at an event that will happen on March 25th, 2019. It is also reported that Apple will announce a new news service at the event.
This is in line with other rumors that said Apple would launch the service this spring. It is said that Apple has deals in place from companies like HBO and STARZ to add some of their content to Apple’s new streaming service. Apple will also rely heavily on Apple original programming, which they have slowly been building up over the last few years.
Apple is reportedly planning to make the service available through its Apple TV app, meaning you will need an Apple device to access the content. The good news is there are reports that Apple plans to offer the content for free to Apple device owners.
At CES this year Apple announced deals with multiple TV manufacturers to add AirPlay to their TVs. This will allow iPhone and iPad owners to cast their videos to their TVs even if they do not own an Apple TV.
For now, we will have to wait until Apple officially announces its new service to learn more.
