Apple Announces Premiere Dates for Six New Original Series

At TCA Sunday, Apple TV+ set premiere dates for two new docuseries, Home and Dear… as well as the animated series Central Park, and scripted series Trying, Defending Jacob, and Amazing Stories. The new series will join the lineup of original content on the streaming platform.

Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories will be released on March 6. The series will be a revival of the series from the 1980s.

Home first showed at the SXSW Film Festival. The docuseries showcases innovative homes around the world. Apple announced the show, noting that each of the nine episodes will look at the “boundary-pushing imagination of the visionaries who dared to dream and build them.” Home will premiere on April 17.

Defending Jacob stars Michelle Dockery and Chris Evans. The series is based on the bestselling novel, also titled Defending Jacob, and focuses on a family affected by a shocking crime. The series premieres April 24.

Apple Insider reported that Apple’s British TV show Trying will premiere on May 1. The series will focus on the two main characters, Jason and Nikki, as they work toward becoming parents.

The second docuseries series announced is Dear… which will be a new take on biographies of influential and iconic individuals. The series will be based on letters from those who have been impacted by each subject. According to Variety, reporting from TCA, the subjects of the series will include  Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and more. Dear… will premiere on June 5.

Finally, Central Park, the animated series for Apple TV+ will premiere sometime this summer. The story revolves around the Tillerman family as they protect their home in Central Park. The show was made by the creators of Bob’s Burgers.
