Google Chromecast with Google TV

The year 2021 was a good one for Google’s TV operating system growth. The company reports that Android TV and Google TV users have surpassed 110 million, up from the 80 million reported in May. That means 30 million more active monthly devices have been added in seven months.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the updated numbers in a statement to 9 to 5 Google.

Some of Google’s more popular products include TCL’s Android TV OS models which reportedly sell 10 million units per year and Chromecast with Google TV. Google previously reported that U.S. adoption has grown by over 80%.

Google’s main competitors are Roku and Amazon Fire TVs, which are household names in the streaming device world. Roku was recently named the top Smart TV OS in the U.S. for the second year in a row.
