Since 2015 the main complaint about the Fire TV has been its remotes and, more specifically, how hard it was to open the battery door. Once opened, over time the Fire TV remote battery door is known to become lose having trouble staying closed.

This issue was so large we made a video about it when Amazon rolled out this new design and now that video has been watched over 200,000 times with people expressing that they also struggle to open the battery door.

Now AFTVnews has spotted that Amazon is rolling out an updated Fire TV remote with the Fire TV 4K that has minor improvements on the remote buttons but, more importantly, has a new battery door.

This new remote is listed to work with all recent Fire TVs since the 1st Gen Fire TV Stick 4K and 1st Gen Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

For now, the remote is only being sold with the Fire TV Stick 4K. Hopefully, in the future, it will also be sold as a standalone remote to replace older Fire TV remotes.

You can find side-by-side photos of the new and old Fire TV remotes on AFTVnews’s story HERE.
