Amazon Prime Video will begin streaming Thursday Night Football games in 2022, a year ahead of schedule, the company announced Monday.

When this year’s NFL season begins, Thursday night games will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The NFL will continue airing games on local broadcast stations in each team’s home market.

The NFL announced new rights agreements in March, which at the time were set to begin in 2023, running through the 2033 season. Amazon was one of several streaming services and networks to score rights in the new deal. The deal included Amazon getting the NFL’s first ever all-digital package.

“We look forward to bringing Thursday Night Football exclusively to Prime members in 2022, a year earlier than previously announced,” said Marie Donoghue, VP of Global Sports Video at Amazon. “This expedited deal is an immediate differentiator for us as a service, as it gives Prime members exclusive access to the most popular sport in the United States.”
