Last year, Amazon streamed the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game. Now, according to a report from The Athletic, Amazon will be the new home to many NBA games as the two sides have reportedly agreed on a framework of a deal that would make Amazon the new home for the NBA.

The NBA currently taking bids for its next set of media rights deals for 2025. Amazon’s Global Head of Sports, Jay Marine, says the company is interested in the rights and is negotiating for more than regular-season games to tap into the league’s young fan base and global reach.

“Would something like the playoffs be an important part of [our bid]? Yes, I think that’s fair to say,” Marine said during an interview on The Marchand and Ourand Sport’s Media Podcast last year.

Now it seems Amazon is deep into talks with the NBA that would see a significant number of the NBA’s regular season games and postseason games stream on Amazon. Exactly how many games will stream on Amazon is unknown under this deal.

Several major media companies are also interested in NBA rights, including ESPN, Turner, Apple, Google, NBC, and Netflix. On March 9, ESPN and Turner start a 45-day exclusive negotiation window with the NBA but that is expp[ering without a deal.

For now, though early reports are saying Amazon is currently the leader when it comes to the future of NBA TV rights.
