Amazon introduced its latest smart displays, the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11, during its fall 2025 hardware event on Tuesday, showcasing significant design upgrades and integration with its enhanced Alexa Plus AI assistant. These devices mark a continuation of Amazon’s efforts to refine its smart display lineup, building on the success of previous models while introducing a fresh aesthetic and advanced functionality. With new Echo Shows 8 and 11 coming on November 12th.
You will also find new Echo Speakers like the Echo Dot Max, and Echo Studio. The new Echo Speakers will go on sale October 29.
The Echo Show 8, an update to Amazon’s compact smart display last refreshed in 2023, and the Echo Show 11, a new addition resembling a successor to the Echo Show 10 from 2021, both feature sleeker, more modern designs. The devices sport slimmer profiles with noticeably thinner bezels surrounding their screens, though not entirely edge-to-edge. Each display incorporates a 13-megapixel front-facing camera positioned above the screen, maintaining functionality for video calls and smart home monitoring while contributing to a more premium look compared to the bulkier designs of earlier Echo Show models.
A key design element of both devices is their audio system. The Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 house rounded, oblong speakers wrapped in a stylish 3D knit fabric, positioned behind the displays. The screens are slightly elevated above the speakers, a design choice intended to optimize sound dispersion and ensure clear voice capture by the integrated microphones. This refined approach to audio and aesthetics aims to elevate the user experience, whether for music playback, video streaming, or interacting with the smart assistant.
Both devices run on Amazon’s revamped Alexa Plus AI assistant, a large language model-based system that promises more natural and intuitive interactions. This AI upgrade, highlighted earlier this year during demonstrations using older Echo Show models, enables the new devices to handle complex queries, manage smart home devices, and deliver personalized responses with greater efficiency.
Pricing for the new smart displays reflects their enhanced capabilities, with the Echo Show 8 retailing at $179.99 and the Echo Show 11 priced at $219.99. These devices join a lineage that began with the original Echo Show in 2017, which featured a 7-inch screen and a wedge-shaped design. Over the years, Amazon has iterated on its smart displays, introducing innovations like the motorized mount of the 2020 Echo Show 10, which allowed the screen to track users’ movements. More recently, the Echo Show 15, launched in 2022 with a 15.6-inch screen and a picture-frame design, blended seamlessly into home decor, while the 2024 Echo Show 21’s 21-inch display doubled as a Fire TV alternative.
You can connect up to five Echo Studio or Echo Dot Max devices with compatible Fire TV sticks for an immersive surround sound system in minutes. With Alexa Home Theater, you just plug in your speakers, and Alexa takes care of the rest—automatically tuning them to the room. Systems like these typically cost thousands of dollars and take time and expertise to set them up. These Echo products will be available in Alexa Home Theater bundles, for the simplest way to get powerful, professional sound.
The Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 represent Amazon’s ongoing commitment to blending style, functionality, and cutting-edge AI, positioning the company to compete in the evolving smart home market. Both devices are expected to be available for purchase later this fall, further expanding Amazon’s ecosystem of connected devices.
