Amazon Has Stopped Rolling Out The New Fire TV OS Update

Late last week we broke the news that Amazon was rolling out a new Fire TV OS. This new OS is 5.2.4.0 and brings a brand-new user interface that is a major overhaul to the new Fire TV.

Amazon has always been slow rolling out updates and often will pass out the update to a handful of users to see if there are any issues. Now it seems that Amazon may have found an issue with its software update.

It was reported by AFTVnews.com that Amazon has updated its build number to [PLACEHOLDER]. This is typically an indication that it is making a change to the build in what is a move to fix some type of issue that was found. AFTVnews says this has happened before. “This is what happened with the earlier 5.2.1.0 software update, which initially had a build number of 550144920 but was then halted and restarted with a new build number of 550145120 due to a bug that prevented the screensaver from launching.”

It has also been a few days since any Cord Cutters News readers have reported receiving the update. Sadly there is nothing you can do to trigger the update. You just have to wait for Amazon to resume sending out the update to Fire TV box and Fire Stick owners.
