Amazon Quietly Kills Off Amazon Instant

amazon-instant-video-logoXIf you are looking for Amazon Instant over at you may be surprised to find out its gone. Over the last few months Amazon very quietly dropped the Amazon Instant name and rebranded their streaming service Amazon Video.

The move was likely done for many reasons from confusion over what Amazon Instant was to maybe an effort to give the streaming service a fresh start.

Yet the most likely reason may be to avoid confusion with Amazon’s new same-day delivery service they are rolling out across the United States.

No matter what the reason, the move is a good one. Amazon Video is a cleaner name for their online video streaming service. It immediately lays out what the service is and should help it grow.

People looking for video content in an app store may be more willing to download an app named Amazon Video rather than an app named Amazon Instant.

From our understanding all Amazon Instant apps and websites have now been updated and rebranded to Amazon Video. A few help pages may still have the older Amazon Instant name but as of December 2015 Amazon Instant is a dead product.
