We’re one step closer to the launch of Amazon’s home internet, Amazon Leo. Today, the company released a letter from CEO Andy Jassey, wrapping up 2025 and sharing future plans with shareholders. In the letter, Jassey shared that “Amazon Leo is officially scheduled to launch in mid-2026.”
While an exact date wasn’t given, Jassey did share that “meaningful revenue commitments” have been secured from partners including Delta Airlines, JetBlue, AT&T, Vodafone, DIRECTV Latin America, Australia’s National Broadband Network, NASA, and others.
The news follows and update that Amazon had started a waitlist for service in February. You can sign up now to receive the latest news about Amazon Leo services.
Amazon will offer satellites in three sizes. Each antenna is designed in-house and is made to work anywhere, even in harsh environments.
- Leo Nano – Delivering up to 100 Mbps download speeds in a 7 x 7-inch, 2.2-pound package, Amazon Leo Nano provides high-speed connectivity in a conveniently portable design. Made to take on the go and stay connected wherever you need to travel.
- Leo Pro – Amazon Leo Pro delivers the best of both worlds—fast speeds in a sleek package. It provides up to 400 Mbps download speeds, measures just 11 x 11 inches, and weighs 5.3 lbs. Great for streaming in 4K, playing games, and making seamless video calls, all at the same time.
- Leo Ultra – Amazon Leo Ultra is designed for uncompromising performance. It delivers the fastest satellite connectivity speeds up to 1 Gbps downloads and 400 Mbps uploads. Supports bandwidth-intensive business and industrial applications, including connecting thousands of IoT sensors and hundreds of HD cameras.
Amazon has 200 low-orbit satellites in place, with plans to launch thousands more in the coming years. Compared to competitors, the company says Leo will have stronger performance, about six to eight times better on uplink, and two times better on downlink than current options. Amazon also promised a lower price point. For business and government customers, Leo will seamlessly integrate with AWS, offering storage, analytics, and AI solutions.
