Amazon has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of America to launch “Camp Prime,” a virtual summer camp for kids since a traditional camp experience isn’t on the table this year. “Camp Prime” provides an easy way for kids to stay entertained this summer with their families with outdoor activities, campfire stories, reading recommendations, and more. There are even directions for how to make a flag with your very own family camp crest.

“The past few months have challenged parents and kids alike, and I know many families, including my own, were looking forward to their summer traditions this year,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime. “That’s why we partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to bring families the Camp Prime Handbook. The handbook is free for everyone and is full of activities families can do with supplies easily found around the house. With the Boys & Girls Clubs’ 160 years of experience providing youth camps, we’ve created an experience that will help families make the most of this unique summer, building on Prime’s year-round goal to help make people’s lives a little easier, more convenient, and more fun every day.”

New videos for “Camp Prime” will launch every day from July 14 – 18 on Amazon’s DayOne blog.

Here are some highlights:

·       July 14: Creating DIY Summer Sailboats out of pool noodles with Erica Domesek

·       July 15 (Today): Family Meditation & Movement with Koya Webb

·       July 17: Discovering the ins and outs of beatboxing with Joey Klaasen

·      July 18: Learning a dance routine with Sherrie Silver

·       And more!

Amazon is also donating $500,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs to help locations across the country offer safe alternatives to summer camps for children and their families. Some locations have ‘curbside camp’ kits available to take home, while others are providing virtual programming options. Amazon has made it easy for you to donate too, just tell Alexa to “Donate to Boys & Girls Club.”

Families can also interact with Alexa on compatible devices or via the Alexa and Amazon Shopping apps by saying, “Alexa, What is Camp Prime?” to get more information about the summer program and “Alexa, tell me the fun fact of the day” to start out their camp day with an educational anecdote.

“Camp Prime” is free to everyone, even if you’re not a Prime member.
