Amazon has bought streaming rights to AMC’s popular series Mad Men and will add the show to its free IMDb TV streaming service July 15. The series left Netflix on June 9, leaving fans to wonder where it would end up next. As of July 15th, IMDb TV will be the exclusive free streaming home of the series in the US. All episodes will also be available for Prime members in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and more starting July 3rd; Japan, Israel, Indonesia, and Thailand starting July 15th; Canada on October 1st; and the Netherlands starting November 1st.

This is the latest big-name series Amazon has added to IMDb TV. Recently, the streamer added Schitt’s Creek Chicago Fire, Lost, Friday Night Lights, Revenge, Malcolm in the Middle, White Collar, and Desperate Housewives, boosting its profile within the realm of streaming services.

This sale has been through a four-month process amid the pandemic when new originals were halted.

Mad Men is an evergreen property whose appeal has continued to grow over the years, and we’re pleased to collaborate with a diverse alliance of exceptional partners to bring it to a global audience,” said Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs. “This comprehensive and multifaceted agreement brings together partners from every part of the content ecosystem, and it allows a whole new generation of fans to enjoy one of the greatest television series ever made, whether they’re reuniting with the show as an old friend or discovering Mad Men for the first time.”

Mad Men was AMC’s first-ever original series and bolstered the network while becoming one of the most acclaimed drama series ever winning four Outstanding Drama Series Emmy Awards in a row.

Mad Men launched on AMC in 2007 and became the definition of ‘talked-about-television’ – and for our company began a period of distinction and impact that continues to this day,” said Ed Carroll, Chief Operating Officer of AMC Networks. “We are so pleased to bring Mad Men home to AMC, and again be able to share these unforgettable characters and this nuanced and exceptional storytelling with fans, new and old, on a variety of platforms starting this fall.”

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising.   Mad Men earned widespread acclaim for its writing, acting, directing, visual style and historical authenticity, winning 16 Emmys, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award. It was the first basic cable series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series on its way to winning the award each of its first four seasons.
