Amazon has announced a significant change to its Teen Login program, a service that allowed teens aged 13 to 17 to shop and access select Prime benefits under adult supervision within an Amazon Family. As of April 7, 2025, the company has halted new signups for the program. Existing teen users can continue using their accounts until they turn 18, but no new teen accounts will be able to signup.

The Teen Login program, launched to provide teens with a controlled shopping experience, allowed them to use their own Amazon login to shop or stream content while sharing payment methods and certain Prime benefits with adults in their household. Adults could set approval options, including automatic approval for all purchases, approval up to a specified amount, or manual approval for each order. Notifications for every order ensured transparency, with adults able to review, cancel, or return items as needed. The program also extended select Prime benefits to teens, such as free Prime shipping, access to Amazon Photos for unlimited full-resolution photo storage, and free Prime Video streaming (excluding paid content).

In a statement to Cord Cutters News an Amazon spokesperson said “We regularly evaluate services and programs, and as part of that, customers will no longer be able to create Amazon Teen logins. Customers aged 13 to 17 years who currently use an Amazon Teen login can continue to access their accounts and use Amazon Teen features.”

Prime members could share benefits like Prime Shipping, early access to deals, free Prime Video, and unlimited full-resolution photo storage with Amazon Photos. However, restrictions applied—teen logins couldn’t access Prime Music, paid Prime Video content, or exclusive promotions like pre-order game discounts. The program also excluded Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods delivery, digital content purchases, and subscriptions such as Subscribe & Save. Teen accounts were supported on the Amazon Shopping app, Amazon Video app, Fire TV/Stick devices, and the Amazon.com website but couldn’t be used to register Echo or Kindle devices or upgrade Amazon Photos storage.

For current users, the transition is seamless. Teens with existing accounts can continue shopping and streaming under the same rules until they age out of the program at 18. However, families hoping to enroll new teens are out of luck, and Amazon has not indicated whether the program might be revived or replaced.

Amazon has recnetly launched a new Prime program fro Young Adults allowing them to use Prime at a discounted rate but this is only for 18+ older. For now parents of teens will have to make their orders for them.
