Recently Amazon has been working to become more transparent about products it sells. This includes showing badges indicating frequently kept or returned items. This allows people to buy with confidence knowing that an item may or may not work for them when they think about ordering it.

Amazon started to use AI to briefly summarize reviews giving customers the highlights without needing to read through thousands of reviews.

Now Amazon has expanded this effort by listing how often an item has been purchased for most products. Earlier this year Amazon started to tell customers how many times in the previous month a select item had been sold. Now this feature has rolled out to most items sold on Amazon. This information is displayed below the ratings for an item on Amazon’s search page.

All this information put together can help buyers get a better idea of just how popular an item is and how often it is kept. These changes help Amazon buyers make better-informed decisions.

Amazon has been fighting scammers trying to game its system. Scammers often post fake reviews—something Amazon has even gone to court to stop. Scammers sometimes try to make items look more popular than they really are. Now with honest sales and return data customers can buy with more confidence on Amazon.
