Today at CES, Amazon announced a new line of Fire TV edition smart TVs and soundbars. Now Amazon’s Fire TV powers over 50 smart TVs and soundbars in more than 10 countries.

At CES 2017, we announced the first Fire TV Edition smart TV. Now, just three years later, Fire TV Edition has grown into a worldwide program which will include more than 150 Fire TV Edition models across more than ten countries by the end of the year,” said Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV. “Our expanded Fire TV Edition program provides companies with the services and tools they need to bring Fire TV to more categories and more screens.”

Now that Amazon has found success with the Fire TV, they are rapidly expanding it. A few of the most interesting things Amazon is doing is offering a version of the Fire TV for cars, SUVs, and trucks. BMW and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will soon offer vehicles with built-in Fire TV capabilities. These new Fire TVs will offer hands-free access to Alexa, touch screen interfaces, and offline playback capabilities. Parents and kids alike can enjoy the living room TV experience in the car and watch a variety of content—latest shows from Netflix, Prime, and FreeTime or shows recorded with Fire TV Recast or saved locally on-device. Content can be streamed using a vehicle’s Wi-Fi or LTE connection, a mobile hotspot, or any other WAN-enabled device.

Recently Amazon launched their first Fire TV-powered soundbars from Anker. Now Amazon has partnered with TCL to make the TCL Alto 8+ Soundbar–Fire TV Edition. Amazon has also partnered with Anker, Polk Audio, and Tonly to make new Fire TV soundbars. Later this year Amazon will bring new features to its Fire TV edition soundbar offering including Dolby Atmos support, device control, HDMI switching, and far-field voice control, along with a co-branded experience with partner customizations.

Amazon & Verizon Offer Fire TV Edition—Certified Solutions Providers

After successfully introducing Fire TV partnerships with Tata Sky in India and Verizon in the US, Amazon has announced that they are expanding Fire TV device offerings available to operators like Verizon allowing them to choose the best solution that fits their customer and business needs as well as providing merchandising opportunities in the Fire TV Edition customer experience.

New Fire TV Edition Smart TVs & International Expansion

“Over the past year, Best Buy has sold millions of Fire TV Edition smart TVs on BestBuy.com, in our stores and as a third-party seller on Amazon.com. We’ve enjoyed working with the Amazon team to bring these high-quality TVs and the incredible Fire TV experience to our customers,” said Luke Motschenbacher, vice president of Merchandising, Best Buy.

To continue this growth with the Fire TV edition smart TVs, Amazon has partnered with Grundig, JVC, Onida, and Anker and retailers like Best Buy, Currys PC World and MediaMarktSaturn (coming 2020). Amazon will continue its international expansion with more brands launching Fire TV edition smart TVs in the US, Canada, India, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Mexico later in 2020.
