The Cleveland Browns might’ve beat the Cincinatti Bengals yesterday, but in terms of streaming services, YouTube was the clear winner with only a 20-second delay time. This was a huge improvement over the fear many had expressed that NFL Sunday Ticket would see massive delays behind cable TV.
YouTube TV kicked off its NFL Sunday Ticket games package alongside the first Sunday game of the 2023-2024 NFL season. Many doubted YouTube TV’s ability to handle the viewer demand, especially with the risky extra step Google took in offering a free trial of the service the same weekend. The success could give Google an advantage when negotiating future partnership opportunities, like with the NBA.
While users voiced their satisfaction with Sunday Ticket, the service wasn’t without a few complaints, namely that you couldn’t pick what games were included with the multiview. Instead, YouTube and YouTube TV offered 40 premade multivew feeds.
If you want to try out YouTube TV NFL Sunday Ticket, the service is running a special launch offer through September 19.
NFL Sunday Ticket is available during a presale for $399 for the season, $50 less than the retail price of $499. You can also save $50 with the bundled NFL Sunday Ticket and Red Zone option for $439. The Redzone bundle lets you watch out-of-market games on YouTube without YouTube TV. Preorder sign ups are open on YouTube and YouTube TV, but you can find more deals and details on the NFL Sunday Ticket website.
YouTube TV also successfully kept its app up and running without any major delays during the first day of NFL Sunday Ticket. Our readers reported no major bugs or issues affecting YouTube TV subscribers.
