A&E is diving back into one of the most heavily discussed true crime cases in recent memory with Scott Peterson: The New Evidence.
The two-night documentary event premieres Thursday, July 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT and continues Friday, July 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The special is led by veteran defense attorney and ABC News legal consultant Chris Pixley, who reexamines the case through newly surfaced evidence and argues that the new filing could change what viewers thought they knew about the case.
According to A&E, the series revisits the investigation more than two decades after the deaths of Laci and Conner Peterson. The network says the documentary takes a fresh look at the case through the lens of a bombshell petition and newly filed evidence. The project includes access to Scott Peterson and his family in related coverage, making this another in-depth addition to the network’s true crime lineup.
“The jury heard from at least two expert witnesses who either didn’t testify on the basis of their expertise or gave testimony that was not possible to arrive at using the then current technology,” Pixley said in an interview. “Whether or not you believe that Scott Peterson is innocent or guilty from a constitutional standpoint, the verdict’s not reliable if the testimony that the jury received from expert witnesses wasn’t reliable.”
