Acorn TV’s April schedule is out, and it’s full of new and returning favorites to spice up your spring. Highlights include Irish mystery thriller Harry Wild starring Jane Seymour, and Hidden Assets, both Acorn TV Originals that will debut two episodes every week. Plus, this month also includes the complete season 4 of Balthazar dropping, so you can binge it all at once, exclusively on Acorn TV.

Monday, April 4

Harry Wild (Acorn TV Original) | Episodes 1 and 2 of 8 – SERIES PREMIERE

EPISODE 1: When Harry Met Fergus

When retired literature professor, Harriet “Harry” Wild (Jane SeymourThe Kominsky Method) becomes the victim of a mugging, it starts a series of events that lead Harry to a whole new life. Harry goes to stay with her son, Charlie, a senior Guard. When she realizes Charlie’s latest investigation bears striking similarities to an obscure Elizabethan play and her offer of help is rudely rejected, Harry decides she will find the killer herself to prove she was right. When her path crosses that of her mugger, Fergus Reid, rather than turning him in, Harry employs him as her sidekick and together they catch a killer.

EPISODE 2: Samurai Plague Doctors Kill for Kicks

Experiencing fifteen minutes of fame after the events of episode one, Harry and Fergus are approached by a woman desperate to find out how her husband died. Initially reluctant to get involved, Harry’s interest is soon piqued when Fergus discovers there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye. Employing their own inimitable style, Harry and Fergus discover gamblers are running a snuff game in Dublin. Adamant not to repeat the same mistakes, Harry turns over the evidence they uncover to Charlie, vowing to stay out of it. Unfortunately, the killers, whose game Harry has ruined, have other ideas.

EPISODE 3: Mincemeat

When a body is pulled out of the river near Harry’s local pub, something about the dead man feels familiar to Harry. When she remembers how she knows him, she realizes she’s stumbled onto the ultimate misdirect. Harry and Fergus go undercover at the house of the “grieving widow,” a Polish restaurant, a girls’ boarding school (with the admirable assistance of Harry’s teenage granddaughter, Lola), and a greyhound racetrack to uncover the sinister truth. Along the way, Harry starts to grow closer to Ray, Charlie’s boss and mentor. This will get messy.

EPISODE 4: An Unhappy Happy Is a Dangerous Thing  

Harry and Fergus agree to help local loan shark, Happy, find out who murdered his employee in return for Happy ripping up Fergus’ father’s sizeable debt. Seeing links between the killing and Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment brings Harry to the attention of the fledgling serial killer, Billy Lund. A very disturbed young man, Billy becomes fixated on Harry, seeing her as his natural nemesis, but when Harry gets too close for Billy’s liking, he turns the tables on her. Harry and Fergus have to race against the clock to decipher Billy’s warped mind and save the life of someone Harry loves.

Candice Renoir, Season 4 (Acorn TV Exclusive – Foreign language) |All episodes

After putting her career on standby for 10 years, Candice Renoir (Cécile Bois) returns from Singapore and joins the police force in a port town in southern France. Despite her rusty detective skills and her unit’s flagrant defiance, and a superior officer whose cynicism doesn’t make her job any easier, Candice is determined to turn her so-called weaknesses into strengths. She solves the most complex cases thanks to her common sense and keen observation skills, boosted by a pragmatic nature honed by a busy daily routine. In this TV adaptation of Rosamunde Pilcher’s Coming Home, Judith Dunbar (Emily MortimerMary Poppins Returns) arrives at boarding school and makes friends with the carefree and fun-loving Loveday Carey-Lewis (Katie Ryder-Richardson), who then introduces her to her glamorous and wealthy family and her collection of interesting and bohemian friends. When Judith’s eccentric guardian dies, the Carey-Lewis’ become her surrogate family, and Judith finds the next few years the most joyous of her life, but she is unaware that the specter of war hangs over everything she holds dear. EPISODE 5: A Corpse In My Soup

A stuffy dinner party in the home of one of Harry’s former colleagues, Lawrence Cavendish, turns deadly when a vomiting bug sweeps through the guests, bar one: Harry. Further investigation uncovers the cause of the sickness is the corpse of Cavendish’s wife in the house’s well. With Charlie on holiday, the investigation is led by his sergeant, Vicky Boyle. Too eager to prove herself, Vicky makes some rash choices and when the evidence starts to point to Harry as the culprit, Vicky unwisely arrests her. It is left to Fergus, in the midst of his exams, to prove Harry’s innocence.

EPISODE 6: Best Laid Schemes

A violent storm traps Harry, Fergus and Lola in the local pub. Cut off from the outside world by flooded roads and downed phone masts, events take a dangerous turn when they discover a kidnap victim in the boot of a car in the pub’s car park. Freeing the man, they realize the kidnapper must be one of the handful of strangers trapped in the pub with them. Harry, Fergus and Lola, along with the pub’s landlady and, resident dodgy bloke, Welsh Glenn, have to work together to uncover the identity of the kidnapper. But kidnapping soon turns to murder. Episode 1:  A police raid in Limerick, a dead body in Antwerp and a terrorist bombing campaign – Detective Emer Berry and her CAB team must work out how they are all connected.

EPISODE 7: The Mystery of Granny Susan’s Fun Time Wig

When the matriarch of a wealthy Dublin family is strangled to death during a video call in front of her horrified relatives, the dead woman’s daughter employs the services of the newly formed Wild/Reid Detective Agency. The agency being Fergus’ brainchild, Harry is as surprised as anyone to discover it exists but agrees to indulge Fergus’ ingenuity. It quickly becomes apparent that the motive for the murder was the sizeable inheritance, but as everyone who stands to benefit was on the video call at the time of the killing, how could one of them have been the killer?

EPISODE 8: No One Here Gets Out Alive – SEASON FINALE

Zoe McCann is a damaged young woman, a recovering addict fighting each day to slay her demons. But when Zoe is abducted only to wake up in a forest wearing a vintage ballgown, her sanity and resolve are pushed to their limit. Terrified that her unknown abductor will come back for her, her path leads to Harry and Fergus.
