Rumors are flying as a new iPad Air is in the works. While nothing has been confirmed yet, there is speculation on what features the sixth-generation model could have.
There may or may not be an announcement about the new iPad Air this October but according to Mark Gurman, the device itself wouldn’t come out until sometime next year.
“For those wondering about the iPad — another product that typically gets refreshed in October — I wouldn’t expect any major upgrades until the M3 iPad Pros with OLED screens arrive next year,” wrote Mark Gurman in a recent Bloomberg article. “But an iPad Air model that boosts its specifications is also in development.”
There seems to be not much to disclose at this point, although MacRumors predicts the next model will include “the M2 chip, a Thunderbolt port like the iPad Pro, a horizontally-oriented front-facing camera like on the 10th-generation iPad, and new color options.”
The M1 chip was added to the last iPad Air upgrade in March of 2022 and boasted a 60% increase in performance speeds. That model also had an upgrade 12 MP Ultra Wide front camera offering Center Stage support, which keeps the camera focused on you as you move around so you appear stabilized on the screen. This model also had a faster USB-C port, a Touch ID button, new color options, and 5G support.
