A Darkwing Duck Reboot is in Development

The 90s cartoon reboots continue, this time bringing back our favorite crime fighting duck in a Darkwing Duck project reportedly being developed for Disney+.

Variety shared an exclusive report Friday, with sources sharing that Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee of Point Grey Pictures will executive produce.

Darkwing Duck originally aired from 1991-1992, with a total of 91 episodes. The animated series followed superhero Darkwing Duck in his day to day life in the suburbs, and while fighting crime with his sidekick Launchpad McQuack.

Darkwing Duck is the latest in a line of 90s series and cartoons being brought back by streaming services. Animaniacs made its way to Hulu this month, Fresh Prince is going home to Peacock with a reunion special coming to HBO Max, a Saved by the Bell reboot is set to launch on Peacock the week of Thanksgiving, and Rugrats is reportedly coming back with a likely home on the rebranded Paramount+ next year.

If the project becomes a new series and finds a spot on the Disney+ lineup, it would be available alongside Ducktales, a late 80s animated series with Scrooge McDuck taking guardianship of his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie at McDuck Manor, along with more movie and TV titles in the Donald Duck collection on the streaming service.
