The 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament is nearing its end as the participants and pairings are set for the 2021 Women’s College World Series. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 WCWS was canceled; however, this year’s event is a return to normal with 100% capacity expected at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A packed crowd of over 13,000 fans in the stands as Oklahoma City hosts the event for the 30th time.
The 64-team tournament is down to the final 8 participants that have advanced to the 2021 Women’s College World Series. The Oklahoma Sooners were the runner-up in the 2019 tournament and are the No.1-seed heading into this year’s World Series. Since the event is taking place in Oklahoma City, they’re also the hometown favorite with their campus being only 20 miles from ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. They’ll be joined by in-state rival No. 5-seed Oklahoma State, which may turn into an interesting matchup if both teams end up playing each other.
Right behind Oklahoma, No. 2-seed UCLA Bruins are the defending national champions after winning the 2019 Women’s College World Series. They will open up against No. 10-seed Florida State, who last won the WCWS in 2018. The only team in this year’s bracket to make their debut in the WCWS is James Madison.
Fans can participate at home by filling out their own bracket of this year’s Women’s College World Series. Cord cutters who won’t be in Oklahoma City can find out how to watch every single pitch and at-bat of the 2021 Women’s College World Series below.
