Specific launch details for next-generation game consoles from Microsoft and Sony have trickled out at a slow pace so far. Microsoft recently pinpointed a launch month (November), but no exact date or price for its Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, Sony’s latest move includes posting a registration page for early adopters to sign up for a chance to preorder.
“There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation,” Sony said on its registration page.
The registration gets your name thrown in the proverbial hat for upcoming preorder invitations and the company says once you’ve received an invite, you’ll have a limited time to act upon it. As for what you can order if you’re chosen, the company says you’re limited to:
- 1 PS5 Console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD Cameras
Those limitations are per PlayStation ID per transaction, and Sony says you’re not obligated to preorder every item — just the gear you want. There are still plenty of details left to learn about these next-gen consoles, including pricing, launch games, and streaming service support, but if you want a shot at a PS5, here’s your chance.
