Apple’s WWDC conferences is taking place today, and the company is announcing some changes that will make Apple customers very happy, including upgrades in speed and performance, along with an update for tvOS.

Speed has been a focus for the announcements today. Apple says that apps on iPhones and iPads will launch up to 30% faster and that even older devices will see an upgrade, mentioning that phones as old as the iPhone 11 will see faster speeds. Speeds will also improve for things like AirDrop, loading emails in Mail, and photos loading on your camera roll.

The Liquid Glass design launched with the last OS update is getting a makeover, based on user feedback. The biggest change will be customization. Users will have the option of changing the opacity of icons and design features with a slider.

Apple also announced an update to its tvOS. tvOS 27 will get an upgraded Podcasts app, smart downloads for Apple TV, the option for larger text on subtitles, and built-in speech recognition to automatically generate subtitles if they aren’t already offered. The new OS version is now in beta for developers and will move on to a public beta version in July.

“At Apple, creating the best products in the world to deliver experiences that enrich people’s lives has always been our North Star,” said Tim Cook in his last WWDC keynote as Apple CEO. “It’s been the honor of a lifetime to help advance that mission with teams whose creativity, care, and conviction continue to make a lasting difference in people’s lives.”
