Amazon has implemented sweeping changes to its Luna cloud gaming service, effectively ending support for third-party subscriptions and individual game purchases starting April 10, 2026. The move marks a significant pivot for the platform, which originally positioned itself as a flexible streaming option that allowed users to access games from multiple sources beyond its own catalog. With these updates, Luna will focus more narrowly on its subscription-based offerings and first-party experiences, streamlining the service while potentially limiting some of the variety that once defined it.

The changes eliminate the ability for users to buy standalone games or subscribe to external services directly through the Luna interface. This includes the discontinuation of Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions sold via the platform. Any active subscriptions purchased through Luna will automatically end at the conclusion of the customer’s next billing cycle. New purchases of these third-party options are no longer available. Additionally, the Bring Your Own Library feature, which permitted players to link and stream games owned on external platforms such as EA, GOG, and Ubisoft, has been removed entirely.

Users who previously bought games outright on Luna can continue streaming them until June 10, 2026. After that date, those titles will no longer be accessible via the service. Amazon has confirmed that it will not issue refunds for such purchases, leaving affected customers to rely on their original third-party accounts for continued access. Games bought through EA, GOG, or Ubisoft Connect, for instance, remain playable on local devices or through other compatible streaming services like GeForce Now, assuming support exists for the specific titles. This transition could prove challenging for individuals who lack high-end gaming hardware, as cloud streaming often served as their primary way to enjoy more demanding releases without investing in powerful PCs or consoles.

The changes also extend to the removal of third-party game stores integrated into Luna. Links to EA, Ubisoft, and GOG storefronts within the platform have been discontinued, preventing new acquisitions or account linkages for streaming purposes. For Ubisoft+ subscribers who obtained their membership directly from Ubisoft rather than through Luna, access to those games via Luna streaming will persist until June 10, 2026, providing a slightly longer window for that particular service.

Despite the reductions in third-party options, Amazon continues to emphasize certain core elements of Luna. Prime members retain the ability to claim select PC games at no additional cost and stream them on the Luna Standard tier. The Luna Premium subscription, which grants access to a broader selection of titles, remains active and will serve as the main gateway for many users going forward. In some cases, Amazon is extending complimentary Luna Premium access to select customers as part of the transition, aiming to soften the impact of the shifts.

For current Luna users, those with purchased games should explore their linked third-party accounts to ensure seamless continuation of play after Amazon ends support. Amazon’s support resources outline the specifics of the transition, encouraging customers to reach out with questions about their libraries or subscription status.
