Philo is bringing more flexibility to its subscription options with two new updates.

First, the affordable live TV streaming service is getting more affordable, with the launch of a new Essential plan for $25 per month. Essential includes 70+ live TV channels, 120+ free streaming channels, 80,000+ movies and shows on demand, and unlimited DVR with one-year storage.

Second, Philo is bringing back its free trial, giving users the opportunity to test out the Essential plan for seven days before committing to a paid subscription.

The new Essential plan includes:

  • 70+ live TV channels
  • 120+ free streaming channels
  • 80,000+ movies and shows on demand
  • Unlimited DVR with one-year storage
  • A reinstated 7-day free trial

Philo will continue to offer its $33 per month plan, now called Bundle+ (formerly called Philo Core.) Bundle+ includes everything in the Essential plan along with AMC+, HBO Max (Basic with Ads), and Discovery+, making it a full premium bundle for $8 more per month. This plan does not include a free trial.

The Essential package is now available directly through the Philo website. The new plan will gradually roll out to third-party platforms over the coming weeks.

The service will also continue to offer its free streaming lineup. The free channels are included with both the Essential and Bundle+ plans, but anyone can watch the free lineup without a subscription or credit card.

The changes to Philo’s plan lineup follow a change in leadership at the company. Mike Keyserling has stepped into the role of CEO. Formerly the COO of the company, Philo says that Keyserling will lead the company in its next chapter while focusing on affordability and flexibility.

“This is about giving customers genuine choice, Keyserling said in a statement Tuesday. “Essential reflects our commitment to keeping live TV accessible and affordable, and doing it without compromise. Bundle+ is for viewers who want more, and we’ve made it easy to upgrade at any time. Both plans reflect where we’re headed as a company: building a platform that meets customers where they are, at every stage.”
