TNT Sports just scored exclusive U.S. English-language rights to the biggest international basketball events, with live games coming to HBO Max.
In a new multi-year agreement, FIBA men’s and women’s tournaments, including the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup (2026), the FIBA Basketball World Cup (2027), and FIBA EuroBasket (2029), will air across its platforms. TNT Sports will also build out off‑court coverage, producing immersive storytelling, bonus content, and player features through Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, and B/R W.
The new deal tips off with the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying window in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with several games airing across TNT, truTV, and HBO Max from March 11–17:

By adding global national-team tournaments to the stack, HBO Max is becoming a true centralized destination for pro, college, and international hoops. After ending its four-decade-long relationship with the NBA, TNT Sports still features several other top leagues and conferences, including Unrivaled, the Big East, the Big 12, the Hall of Fame Series, and even a joint presentation of the NCAA Men’s March Madness alongside CBS Sports.
The splashy FIBA acquisition also comes on the heels of Paramount’s winning bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal that will merge HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single, larger streaming platform. With that corporate shift ahead, high‑value sports rights become even more important in shaping the streamer’s next phase. For now, U.S. subscribers get an immediate win with live FIBA play through 2029 to an already deep domestic hoops portfolio.
