The wormhole is back online. Netflix has officially announced that all ten seasons of the beloved sci-fi series Stargate SG-1 will return to its streaming lineup starting February 15, 2026. The comeback marks a triumphant re-entry for the series, which left the platform in December 2022 following a licensing expiration.

According to What’s On Netflix, the new deal was struck between Netflix and MGM, now under Amazon ownership, to bring the full 214-episode run of SG-1 back to subscribers in the U.S. and select international markets. While the UK and Latin America are included, Canada is not currently among the listed regions.

A Sci-Fi Classic Finds a New Home Again

Originally airing from 1997 to 2007, Stargate SG-1 expanded the universe introduced in the 1994 Roland Emmerich film. The series stars Richard Dean Anderson as Colonel Jack O’Neill, who leads a team that includes Michael Shanks as Dr. Daniel Jackson, Amanda Tapping as Major Samantha Carter, and Christopher Judge as Teal’c, goes through a network of alien stargates to explore distant worlds and face intergalactic threats.

The show is widely regarded as one of sci-fi television’s most enduring franchises, often mentioned in the same breath as Star Trek and Doctor Who for its mix of mythology, action, and humor. It previously streamed on Netflix from 2020 to 2022 before being pulled, prompting speculation that it might never return due to Amazon consolidating its MGM library for Prime Video. Clearly, that speculation was premature.

While the licensing agreement currently covers SG-1 only, there’s growing hope among fans that its spin-offs, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, could follow. For now, those remain exclusive to Prime Video and, in some regions, Pluto TV.

A Broader MGM Pipeline to Netflix

The Stargate SG-1 revival is part of a broader initiative that’s seeing more MGM-owned content licensed back to Netflix. Other recent and upcoming additions include Hunters, Fargo (international), and The Man in the High Castle. Films like the James Bond catalog and Licorice Pizza are also making appearances, signaling a potentially fruitful, if selective, content-sharing relationship between Netflix and Amazon.

Meanwhile, a brand-new Stargate reboot series is still in development at Prime Video with Blindspot creator Martin Gero attached. But for longtime fans looking to revisit, or newcomers ready to binge, Stargate SG-1 will be fully accessible on Netflix starting mid-February.
