If you’ve ever wished there were a streaming service just for short films, that idea is about to become reality. According to The Hollywood Reporter, boutique production and distribution company Vilpa Films is launching a brand-new short-film streaming platform called Vilpa Max, set to debut on January 31, 2026.
Unlike traditional streaming services that bury short films deep in their libraries, Vilpa Max is designed to spotlight them by giving award-winning and festival-caliber shorts a dedicated home. Backed by filmmaker and producer Alejandro Vilpa’s production company, the streamer’s initial rollout regions include the United Kingdom, North Africa, and the Middle East, with additional territories to follow, per the report.
At launch, Vilpa Max will offer two subscription tiers:
- Freemium tier: Free access supported by advertising.
- Paid tier:
- £4.99 ($6.68) in the U.K.
- $3.99 in the Middle East and North Africa
The report highlights Vita Films’ deep ties to Oscar-qualified and Cannes-recognized shorts, with featured launch titles The Mozart of Pickpockets, The Red Suitcase, and All the Crows in the World. Other notable titles that will be available to stream on Vilpa Max include Poof, Bienvenidos a Los Ángeles, and Nocturne in Black.
“At Vilpa Films and Vilpa Max, our mission is to champion extraordinary cinema while creating a bridge for emerging filmmakers to enter the international distribution landscape,” said Alejandro Vilpa. “We curate and produce work that stands alongside Oscar-winning and Cannes-acclaimed films, offering audiences a catalogue defined by vision, craft and cultural impact. At the same time, we empower new voices by giving them opportunities to gain international visibility and positioning as they continue building their careers.”
For cinephiles and short-film lovers, Vilpa Max offers a refreshing, niche experience that leans into curated cinematic content and isn’t trying to be everything for everyone. With more cord cutters scaling back on streaming services, a platform centered around short films makes a valuable addition to your streaming lineup when you don’t want to commit to a two-hour movie or another binge-heavy series.
