Amazon is gearing up for the 2025 holiday season by announcing plans to hire 250,000 workers across its U.S. fulfillment and transportation network. The roles, which include full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions, will be posted weekly from October through December on hiring.amazon.com. The company is also investing over $1 billion to increase pay and reduce health care costs for its fulfillment and transportation employees, raising the average total compensation to more than $30 per hour when including elected benefits.

The seasonal positions, which offer an average wage of over $19 per hour, are designed to appeal to a wide range of workers. For some, these roles provide extra income to support families during the holidays, while others see them as an entry point to a long-term career with Amazon. Regular full- and part-time employees earn an average of $23 per hour, with access to benefits such as health care and the Career Choice program, which pre-pays tuition for employees pursuing college degrees or certificates. Amazon notes that employees who stay with the company for three years have seen their pay increase by an average of 18%.

The company highlighted the popularity of its seasonal roles, which often fill within minutes of being posted due to their competitive pay and flexible schedules. Many seasonal hires transition into permanent roles, with some advancing to positions such as managers or trainers. Amazon emphasized its commitment to creating opportunities for career growth, citing examples of employees who started in entry-level roles and built long-term careers within the company.

To prepare for the holiday rush, Amazon’s fulfillment centers and delivery stations are scaling up operations to handle major shopping events like Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days. The company is encouraging interested applicants to explore openings at amazon.com/localjobs or sign up for job alerts by texting NEWJOB to 31432. Available roles include part-time positions requiring as little as 20 hours per week, as well as full-time seasonal and permanent opportunities.

Amazon’s investment in its workforce comes as it anticipates a busy holiday season, with the company aiming to maintain a workplace where employees can grow and thrive. As roles are expected to fill quickly, Amazon advises potential applicants to check hiring.amazon.com regularly for updates on open positions.
