The last two teams collide in the 2025 WNBA Finals, featuring a Southwest showdown between the Las Vegas Aces and Phoenix Mercury. The franchise (originally the Utah Starzz, later San Antonio) relocated to Las Vegas in 2018 and has since built a championship-caliber core. As one of the league’s original franchises, the Mercury have had success over the years. The team is well decorated with championship victories in 2007, 2009, and 2014. After some roster turnover (including the retirement of franchise icon Diana Taurasi in February 2025), Phoenix rebuilt and fought back into contention. This Finals appearance is a reminder of the franchise’s resilience and ability to win when it matters.
