T-Mobile announced a significant leadership transition, naming Srini Gopalan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025. Gopalan, currently the Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Mike Sievert, who will transition to a newly created role as Vice Chairman. In this capacity, Sievert will remain on the Board and in a management role, advising on long-term strategy, innovation, talent development, and external relations. This move aligns with T-Mobile’s established succession planning process, aimed at sustaining the company’s growth trajectory and its Un-carrier strategy.

Gopalan brings extensive experience to the CEO role, having served as T-Mobile’s COO since his appointment by Sievert and the Board. During his tenure, he has driven significant achievements, including leading the company’s Technology, Consumer, and Business groups. Gopalan has been instrumental in expanding T-Mobile’s 5G and fiber network access through multiple acquisitions, positioning the company for growth in new markets while focusing on addressing customer needs. His prior role as CEO of Deutsche Telekom’s Germany business saw doubled growth rates, expanded fiber services to millions of homes, and record mobile market share, alongside high customer satisfaction. Gopalan’s earlier leadership positions at Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone further bolster his expertise in technology and customer-centric innovation.

“I couldn’t be more excited to announce Srini Gopalan as our next CEO,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile. “When I recruited Srini to be our COO, I knew he had the skills, experience and Un-carrier mindset to lead our company into the future. Srini has been an incredible partner in shaping the future of T-Mobile as well as instrumental in leading our record growth this year and driving initiatives to serve customers in new ways and win them for life. One fact has become crystal clear: Srini is ready to lead. He is highly skilled, passionate and incredibly knowledgeable, and above all he is obsessed with taking our employee and customer experience to the next level. I have full trust and confidence in his vision for T-Mobile, and the Un-carrier’s ability to innovate to an even greater extent under his leadership.”

“I am honored and grateful for the trust Mike and the Board have placed in me, and for the opportunity to lead T-Mobile’s next chapter,” said Srini Gopalan, Chief Operating Officer and T-Mobile’s next CEO. “Mike has done a phenomenal job transforming T-Mobile into the world’s most successful telecom and a disruptive innovator for customers. By almost every possible metric, T-Mobile is better, stronger and faster today than when Mike took the helm nearly six years ago. I am so thankful for Mike’s partnership and mentorship and am committed to building on his legacy of putting the customer first — while disrupting the industry — as we continue to scale our winning Un-carrier strategy.”

Under Sievert’s leadership, T-Mobile achieved remarkable milestones, becoming the only company to lead in both U.S. wireless and broadband growth, adding tens of millions of customers at unprecedented rates. The company also increased its market capitalization by over $200 billion, making it the world’s most valuable telecommunications firm. Sievert’s tenure transformed T-Mobile into a customer-focused industry leader, redefining service standards and driving significant value for investors.

Gopalan’s appointment signals T-Mobile’s intent to build on this legacy. His vision emphasizes leveraging the company’s advanced 5G network, digital capabilities, and AI-driven initiatives to enhance customer experiences and maintain industry leadership. T-Mobile’s strategic focus includes scaling its data-driven, digital-first approach to deliver superior network performance, value, and service. The transition reflects confidence in Gopalan’s ability to lead T-Mobile into its next phase of growth, continuing its reputation as a disruptive force in telecommunications.

The Board expressed appreciation for Sievert’s transformative leadership and optimism about Gopalan’s ability to advance T-Mobile’s innovative culture. As the company moves forward, it aims to maintain its position as a customer-centric leader while exploring new opportunities for expansion and technological advancement.
