Football fans will get a double dose of the NFL’s most iconic behind-the-scenes docuseries, streaming on Max. This year, the HBO Original and NFL Films series is bigger than ever as they have announced not one, but two Hard Knocks series. Fans can watch an all-access ride through two of football’s most compelling storylines: the Buffalo Bills’ training camp and the always-rivalrous, star-studded NFC East. Each series is narrated by Liev Schreiber, and this is the first of a new multi-year partnership between HBO and NFL Films.
“There aren’t many shows in history that have had a successful 25-year run. We are thrilled that the partnership between NFL Films and HBO – which has captivated football fans for so long – will continue years into the future,” said Ross Ketover, NFL Films Senior Executive.
Here’s everything we know about Hard Knocks in 2025.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills
Premieres Tuesday, August 5 at 9PM ET/PT on HBO and Max
Since the creation of Hard Knocks in 2001, the Buffalo Bills have successfully dodged the HBO spotlight. Now, the reigning AFC East champions are finally getting the Hard Knocks treatment in what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated seasons in the show’s history. Cameras will follow head coach Sean McDermott, GM Brandon Beane, and MVP quarterback Josh Allen as the Bills report to training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, New York. This marks the first time a playoff team will appear on the training camp edition of Hard Knocks, thanks to new NFL rules, making Buffalo’s long-awaited spotlight even more historic.
Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East
Debuts in December 2025
The in-season version of Hard Knocks will return this winter with a focus on one of football’s most intense divisions: the NFC East. Expect drama, rivalries, and playoff stakes as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and the division-winning and reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles battle for divisional dominance. A division of stars that includes Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Michael Parsons, Malik Nabers, Russell Wilson, and Jayden Daniels, viewers will get unprecedented access to team meetings, locker room moments, and the emotional highs and lows of a season in full swing.
Whether you’re a fan of a team in the NFC East or a member of Bills Mafia, Hard Knocks on Max is a must-watch.
