Netflix has shared that the $7.99 monthly ad-supported tier of its streaming service has reached 94 million active users, an increase from 70 million subscribers reported last November. In total, Netflix now has more than 700 million active users.

The updated user numbers were announced at Upfronts on Wednesday afternoon.

“When you compare us to our competitors, attention starts much higher and ends much higher. And even more impressive, members pay as much attention to mid-roll ads as they do to the shows and the movies themselves,” said President of Advertising Amy Reinhard in a statement.

During the presentation, Reinhard also shared the ad-supported Netflix tier has more 18-34-year-olds than any other US broadcast or cable network. She went on to speak directly to advertisers, telling them that the Netflix audience is “unique, engaged and attentive,” so “a dollar spent on Netflix is more valuable than a dollar spent anywhere else.”

Netflix launched its ad-supported plan in November 2022. The plan costs $7.99 per month, $10 less than the lowest ad-free plan priced at $17.99 per month.
