Apple Music and Universal Music Group (UMG) are bringing wellness to your earbuds. The companies have launched Sound Therapy, a new audio experience designed to help subscribers relax, focus, or fall asleep without leaving their favorite songs behind. Available exclusively on Apple Music, the collection enhances tracks by artists like Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, and Jhené Aiko using scientifically backed sound waves including gamma, theta, and delta frequencies.

If you’ve replaced cable with streaming, this is a new reason to put Apple Music in your ears, like you put Apple TV on your screen. Sound Therapy taps into the growing demand for wellness content among digital-first listeners. Apple has long explored this space through Apple Fitness+ and Apple Watch, but this latest move brings it directly into the music experience.

The collection is divided into three categories, each using specific types of sound enhancements:

Focus: Designed to support cognitive performance with gamma waves and white noise, which can help block distractions and increase concentration.
Listen to Focus

Relax: Uses theta waves to encourage deep relaxation, offering a soundscape aimed at helping listeners unwind.
Listen to Relax

Sleep: Incorporates delta waves and pink noise, which mimic natural sounds like rain or ocean waves, to promote restful sleep.
Listen to Sleep

Each playlist keeps the integrity of the original songs while adding subtle audio layers. For example, a new version of Katy Perry’s “Double Rainbow” aims to support better sleep, while an Imagine Dragons remix helps set the tone for a productive day.

Backed by Science, Built for Streaming

The collection was developed by Sollos, a wellness-focused initiative within UMG that brings together producers, scientists, and audio engineers. Their goal was to create a premium listening experience with real-world wellness benefits. The use of psychoacoustics and cognitive science is part of a broader effort to validate music’s role in mental and physical wellbeing.

Michael Nash, UMG’s EVP and Chief Digital Officer, called it “an important validation of our innovative, science-led Sollos initiative,” while Apple Music’s Rachel Newman emphasized the collaboration’s grounding in artistry and innovation.

Following Apple Music’s recent launch of its Chill radio station, Sound Therapy adds another layer to the platform’s commitment to offering listeners meaningful, mood-based content. It’s a curated listening experience that fits seamlessly into your daily life—whether you need to power through work, wind down, or get a better night’s sleep.
