Disney’s new ESPN app will cost $29.99 per month, with the option to bundle with Disney+ and Hulu at a price of $35.99 per month. When the service launches this fall, Disney will offer a limited time deal to bring the bundle price down to $29.99 per month for the first 12 months.
Disney first announced plans for the new flagship ESPN app in April and last week shared that it will be named ESPN. The app will give users all of their ESPN content in one place, which includes sports played on linear channels ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, and ESPN+. The setup sounds similar to the new Fox One app, which is also scheduled to launch this fall with a full slate of Fox content.
“We are providing everything ESPN has to offer directly to fans and all in one place,” said Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN Chairman. “As we thought about the name, we kept returning to the fact that, across every generation, ESPN is the most trusted, loved and recognized name in sports, and that we should keep it simple and double down on the power of ESPN. Our straightforward approach to name and pricing will help fans cut through the clutter, and provide them compelling options to access all our content within the enhanced ESPN App. It will be the ultimate sports destination for personalized experiences and features, and, on top of that, fans will be able to choose to bundle ESPN with the industry-leading Disney+ and Hulu streaming services.”

New ESPN App Plans and Pricing
- Monthly subscription: $29.99
- Annual subscription: $299.99
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN unlimited bundle: $35.99/month (with ads on Disney+/Hulu), $44.99/month (no ads on Disney+/Hulu*)
- Special offer at launch: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN unlimited bundle for $29.99/month for the first 12 months (with ads on Disney+/Hulu)
* Ads will be served in select live and linear content.
Existing ESPN+ subscribers will automatically become subscribers to ESPN’s new service, based on their current subscription level. Standalone ESPN+ subscribers get the ESPN select plan, and Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle subscribers get the ESPN select bundle. Those who subscribe to the bundle will be able to watch ESPN content within the Disney+ app.
Disney has also already shared that it will use the existing ESPN app, rather than creating an all-new app, though the new version will be “significantly enhanced.” The enhanced app promises deeper integration with fantasy sports leagues, the ESPN Bet sportsbook, expanded e-commerce opportunities for merchandise and ticketing, and richer statistical overlays.
We’ll likely get more information about the new app during today’s upfronts presentation from Disney.
